Find reviews below of the best travel accessories, pillows, sleep masks, blankets and cushions to make any in-flight experience more comfortable.
Long flights can be a pain in the butt, literally. To make in-flight air travel a bit more pleasurable, find reviews of a few important travel accessories by Magellan’s Travel Supplies (1-800-962-4943) below. What to buy for a future vacation? Think travel pillows, sleep masks, fleece blankets and seat cushions.
The Best Travel Pillows
- Travel Nook Pillow ($19.85 USD): Getting sleep on an airplane can be difficult, mostly because it’s hard to rest without some sort of head support. This inflatable travel pillow has a space in the middle so the inflated parts stop head movement during sleep and cradle the neck instead of pushing it forward. The material is a soft vinyl that can be wiped clean and the travel pillow comes with a matching pouch that can be tricky to get it back into.
- On Air Comfort Pillow ($16.85 USD): This soft fleece travel pillow inflates with only a few quick breaths; it deflates down to nothing just as easily. The pillow itself is designed to be narrower at the back to keep the neck in place. The fleece makes it super comfortable to the touch and can be removed to wash. It's highly recommended for its ease of use and compact size for carry on luggage.
The Best Travel Mask
- Lights Out Sleep Mask ($10.85 USD): The best of the bunch, this supple sleep mask completely blocks out light. Space is created for eyes to move, which helps with REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. For those with small heads, the Velcro strap could be too big, so try it out before the flight to make adjustments.
The Best Travel Blankets
- DreamSack Travel Blanket ($39.85 USD): This travel blanket is ultra light and made of raw silk. It’s fairly warm for its weight but it doesn’t have that warm fuzzy feeling of the below fleece blanket. It folds up very small and comes with a matching pouch. A 10” foot pocket at the bottom is perfect for cold feet. The price is a bit high, though.
- Fleece Airline Blanket ($19.85 USD): Definitely worth the price, this cozy fleece travel blanket is the reviewer’s favourite. Find a zippered pocket on the lap for storing things like glasses and gum. Although it’s very warm, it’s also lightweight enough to easily carry around, but rolling it up to fit in its pouch can be difficult. The big downside is that the foot pouch is tiny.
The Best Travel Cushions
- Self-Inflating Seat Cushion ($29.85 USD): This tan colored travel cushion is a lifesaver for those who get sore behinds on flights. A cutout in the back for the tailbone relieves pressure on the spine and makes all the difference in comfort. It never seems to deflate entirely, though, so it’s a bit of a hassle to pack. Saying that, this is an indispensable travel accessory.
- Self-Inflating Lumbar Cushion ($29.85 USD): A match for the above seat cushion, this simple-looking pillow is also self-inflating and has a memory foam interior. Releasing discomfort in the lower back, it can be a blessing for those with back pain. As with the above product, it never seems to deflate entirely, but is a bit easier to pack because it’s smaller.
- Memory Foam Seat Cushion ($69.00 USD): Although this travel cushion is more than double the price of the above two, it’s absolutely divine to sit on. The size makes it more convenient to use on a road trip than a flight (it doesn’t fold up), but those with serious back problems will find that it makes any trip bearable. The same cutout in the back allows for the tailbone to suspend and the memory foam keeps the cushion firm without losing the give. This is also a great product for office chairs and sitting in front of the TV.
All of the above Magellan’s travel accessories are of high quality and have stood the test of long flights by the reviewer.
