The luxury, boutique Metropolitan Vancouver Hotel has been called many things, including one of “The World’s Best Places to Stay” (Condé Nast Traveler). Its penthouse suite was named as one of the “Top Suites of the Pacific Northwest” (Elite Traveler) and actress Halle Berry was even quoted as saying the hotel was “…a little second home.”
The 197-room luxury boutique hotel lives up to the accolades. Polished service, an historic Asian Feng Shui design and stylish rooms make up the centrally located downtown accommodation.
Downtown Vancouver Hotel Rooms and Suites
From upscale rooms with a king sized bed and rich red colours to one-bedroom suites that are 650 square feet and have a separate living room, the rooms all share spaciousness and clean comfort. Separate rooms can be joined to create three-bedroom suites.
Of note is the 1,565 square foot Tai Pan penthouse loft suite. Floor to ceiling windows, a piano, full kitchen, dining room and wrap around balcony flesh out the first floor; a spiral staircase leads to the loft bedroom, equipped with a working space and fax machine.
A bodyguard room is directly connected for those who need extra security or an assistant. An absolutely gorgeous spot for long term tenants or for a special occasion stay.
Fitness Centre and Indoor Swimming Pool
For fitness-minded travelers, check out the health club. The fitness centre is a smallish room with free weights and lots of cardio (bikes and treadmills overlook downtown Vancouver streets). The indoor swimming pool is enclosed in curving, almost floor to ceiling windows, allowing natural like to pour in.
After a day of shopping and sightseeing, try the whirlpool (in the same bright space as the pool), while the steam room (men) and sauna (women) are refreshers after any day out. A massage therapist can also be booked for appointments in the health centre.
Extra Hotel Amenities
It’s some of the little things that make the Metropolitan Vancouver Hotel such a comfortable hotel to stay in. Look for doorbells on room entrances, a full squash court, signature cookies by the pastry Chef, and a three-hole putting green on an enclosed terrace.
Uniquely, a Jaguar Vanden Plas acts as the house car and takes guests to their first downtown destination each morning between 7:30-9:00 (first come, first served). How’s that for pampering?
